The Dueber name dates back to 1864 when John C Dueber began making watch cases. In 1886 John Dueber purchased a controlling interest in the Hampden Watch Company of Springfield, Massachusetts. The Dueber Hampden Watch Company was at the forefront of innovations in the American watch manufacturing industry. They introduced the first watch movement to the market with 23 jewels. Today, Dueber Watch Company is an American owned brand featuring high-quality pocket watches.
This antique style offering from the Dueber Watch Company is reminiscent of the antique American pocket watches produced in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The large case is close to the size of the antique "16s" size pocket watches from Ball Watch Co, Elgin, Hamilton, Hampden, Illinois and Waltham. It also features the highest quality Swiss mechanical watch movement on the market!
This is the same 17 jewel movement used in modern Bernex, Classique, Jean Marcel, Hamilton, and most of the quality Swiss pocket watches today! In fact, even the luxury brand wrist watch manufacturers (like Panerai, IWC, etc.) use a variation of this movement! The movement can run continuously for 46 hours on a full wind (although a daily wind is recommened for optimal timekeeping). If you are looking for an heirloom quality Swiss timekeeper to carry around and be serviceable for the foreseeable future, this is the watch for you!
Dueber watches are built to last and are hand assembled in the USA!
